We’ll take a look at resources that help with ear training as well as essential tools that help in the mixing process.

Drums are the essential element of any genre of music that can greatly influence the vibe of a song. In this session, we will learn the basics of rhythm, sequencing beats, layering sounds, syncopation, and how to be creative with your beats. We will also explore the different ways in which you can build drum ideas in Ableton, i.e. using drum racks and samples.

Ableton Push is a flexible tool that’s more than just a MIDI controller, it gives you the ability to create and perform easily with just one tool at your fingertips. It’s an expressive instrument that allows you to be hands on with your music, without needing to look at your computer. We will be exploring how to sequence beats, create harmonies and melodies, and play back your musical ideas in an engaging way.

We’ll start the evening with an interactive playground of gear, and move into demonstrations from Jordan West and Mini Bear of their favorite Roland pieces.
