From Awareness to Action: Building Safer Nightlife Spaces

NOTE: THIS SESSION WILL TAKE PLACE LIVE ON ZOOM. RSVP AT THE LINK BELOW TO RECEIVE THE WEBINAR LINK.

Hosted by Sisters in Sound, Femme House & OutSmart NYC

Join OutSmart NYC for an interactive virtual workshop designed for DJs, producers, artists, and nightlife professionals committed to creating safer, more inclusive music spaces.

Rooted in trauma-informed and community-based prevention strategies, this session will explore how sexual and gender-based violence shows up in nightlife, how to recognize and interrupt unsafe dynamics, and how artists can build consent culture both behind the booth and on the dancefloor. We’ll also discuss navigating power dynamics with venues, promoters, and labels while protecting your own boundaries and safety.

Participants will leave with practical bystander intervention tools, harm-reduction strategies, and survivor-centered resources to support themselves and their communities.

OutSmartNYC is a collective of nightlife industry professionals, prevention educators, and support service providers collaborating to end sexual violence in nightlife and party spaces, and create safer nightlife communities. Our unique partnership allows us to offer services that are industry-specific, proactive, and trauma-informed. Our mission is to prevent and end sexual violence in nightlife and party spaces. We do this through training, advocacy, community organizing and referrals to supportive services.
